My neighborhood seemed too perfect to be real — until a tragedy changed everything.

I live in a city that doesn’t sleep, but I grew up in a town that never wakes. I visit the strange, somnambulant place I used to call home, and examine the way my feelings about it have changed over the years.

When I tell people I collect snapshots, I usually get a blank stare. I made this video to help explain why I love them.

I went urban exploring in Belgium to shoot the trailer for my novel, Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. It was an adventure, to say the least.
